Bengaluru: In a shocking incident reported from west Bengaluru, a man allegedly shot dead his wife following a heated argument near the The Westin Bengaluru in Basaveshwaranagar on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhuvaneshwari, while the accused husband has been named as Balamurugan.
Divorce Case Background
According to preliminary police information, the couple was undergoing divorce proceedings in court. On the day of the incident, both had reportedly returned after attending a court hearing. An argument allegedly broke out between them shortly thereafter.
During the confrontation, the dispute escalated, and the husband allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire, critically injuring Bhuvaneshwari. She succumbed to the gunshot injuries on the spot.
Police Action
Officers from the Magadi Road Police Station rushed to the scene and conducted an initial investigation. The area around the hotel was cordoned off as part of the probe.
Police sources confirmed that the accused later surrendered himself at the police station, admitting to the crime. The weapon used in the offence has reportedly been secured, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events, firearm ownership, and motive.
Investigation Underway
A case of murder has been registered, and police are examining CCTV footage from the hotel premises and surrounding areas. Statements from witnesses and family members are also being recorded.
Senior police officials said further details would be shared after a thorough investigation.
