Mangaluru / Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday announced that the Congress party will lay foundation stones for 100 party offices across Karnataka in March, marking a major organisational expansion drive.
Speaking to reporters near the Mangaluru airport, Shivakumar said he has issued clear instructions to proceed with the initiative. “Whether the AICC gives dates or not, I am fully prepared. All arrangements are in place, and the work will begin in March,” he said.
Shivakumar noted that he was in Mangaluru to attend the foundation-laying ceremony of a Congress Bhavan and added that March 10 marks the completion of six years of his tenure as KPCC President. “As I complete six years in this role, we are initiating construction and strengthening the party’s infrastructure at the grassroots level,” he stated.
Responding to allegations that members of the Muslim community were not invited to a recent foundation-laying event, Shivakumar dismissed the charge, asserting that the Congress does not practice politics based on caste or religion.
“Congress believes in politics based on principles, not caste. We want people from all communities and religions with us. Our ideology is clear—religion should guide politics, but politics should never control religion. Such allegations are made by those driven by jealousy,” he said.
The announcement signals an aggressive organisational push by the Congress ahead of upcoming political challenges, with a focus on strengthening booth-level presence and party infrastructure across the state.
