IAS officer Prashant Kumar Mishra
BENGALURU:
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the state IAS Officers Association has expressed its dismay over the FIR filed against Mysuru ZP CEO Prashant Kumar Mishra following the suicide of Nanjangud taluk health officer Dr Nagendra.

The statement refers to the untiring efforts of Covid warriors, from doctors to poura karmikas, under the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioners and ZP CEOs. It terms the suicide of the taluk health officer ‘unfortunate’ but says that “holding senior officers responsible for it is unjust.” The statement notes that the broad framework and guidelines to control Covid-19 are given by the government, and senior officers are only implementing that to the best of their ability.
The act of lodging an FIR against the Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Mysuru, has brought down the morale of field officers and such acts will affect administrative efficiency, the statement says.
“A pragmatic and sensitive approach is warranted. We request the state government to stand by its officers who are doing their duty to the best of their capacity,” the statement says.
