Mandya in fear of Mumbai returnees
BENGALURU:
The novel coronavirus has taken another two lives in the state. Karnataka has also reported 22 positive cases with Bengaluru and Mandya accounting for 5 and 4 respectively.
The number of infected persons in the state has increased to 981, of whom 456 have been cured and discharged from various hospitals. Of the remaining 490 cases, 35 have died.
As per the mid-day health department bulletin, Bengaluru has reported 5 positive cases, all from Padarayanapura, while Mandya has 4 — all having a history of Mumbai return. Bidar has also reported 4 cases, of whom one female, a 45-year-old, has a history of Mumbai travel while the other 3 have been infected from within the containment zone.
Davanagere has reported 3 cases, Gadag has reported 4 — all Tablighi Jamaat returnees from Ahmedabad — and Belagavi and Bagalkot have reported one each.
The bulletin describes one of the deaths as: “P-507, 80 years female resident of Dakshina Kannada, got admitted at a private hospital with acomplaint of stroke, on confirmation for Covid-19 was shifted to ICU in the designated hospital, Dakshina Kannada, on 26.04.2020, died on 14.05.2020 due to septic shock.”
Of the other, it says: “P-796, 60 years, male resident of Ananthpur in Andhra Pradesh, admitted at dedicated hospital in Bengaluru Urban with features of severe pneumonia and respiratory distress with hypotension and known case of diabetes mellitus, died on 14.05.2020 due to cardiac arrest.”
