Bengaluru: A shocking incident has been reported from one of Bengaluru’s reputed private engineering colleges, where a junior engineering student has been arrested for allegedly raping his senior female classmate on campus.
According to police sources, the accused — identified as Jeevan, a junior student — had come to know the survivor, a senior student, only three months ago. However, he reportedly developed an unhealthy obsession and lured her to the seventh floor of the college building, where he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
When the survivor resisted and tried to leave, Jeevan forcibly dragged her to a men’s washroom on the sixth floor, where he committed the assault, police said.
Deeply traumatized, the survivor confided in her friends, who encouraged her to inform her parents. The family subsequently approached the police. Based on her complaint, the Hanumanthanagar Police registered a case and arrested Jeevan.
He has been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
Authorities said the college management has been asked to fully cooperate with the probe, and additional security measures are being reviewed to ensure the safety of female students on campus.
