Fake Love, Real Crime: College Student Gang-Raped After Blackmail, Three Arrested in Bengaluru Rural

Bengaluru: In a deeply disturbing case, a 19-year-old college student was allegedly sexually assaulted and gang-raped after being lured through a fake romantic relationship and later blackmailed using private videos. Magadi Police have arrested three accused in connection with the crime.

According to police, the prime accused, identified as Vikas, befriended the victim several months ago while she was studying at a private college in Bengaluru. Gaining her trust under the guise of love, he allegedly invited her to his friend’s house in Magadi.

During an initial encounter, the accused allegedly recorded private moments without the victim’s consent and later used the footage to blackmail her, forcing her to comply with repeated demands. Police say the accused then threatened the woman and coerced her into meeting his friends.

19-year-old college student was allegedly sexually assaulted and gang-raped after being lured through a fake romantic relationship and later blackmailed using private videos. Magadi Police have arrested three accused in connection with the crime.

Investigators revealed that the victim was later subjected to gang rape by three men — Vikas, Prashanth and Chethan — at a residence in Magadi. The assault reportedly took place after the accused used intimidation and threats involving the private video.

Following the traumatic incident, the survivor approached the Magadi Police Station, after which a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC. Acting swiftly, the police arrested all three accused, who are known to each other and hail from the same locality.

Police officials stated that Chethan, one of the accused, is married and allegedly facilitated the crime by arranging the location. Two of the accused are students, while the third works as an electrician.

Authorities have also indicated that the prime accused may be involved in similar cases, and further investigation is underway to determine whether other victims are involved.

The police have assured strict action and said efforts are being made to ensure justice for the survivor.
