Former BJP Leader Revana Siddappa arrested in Rs 1.95 Crore Fraud for Promising Party Ticket
BALLARI/BENGALURU:
Following a cheating case involving Chaitra, who defrauded a businessman of Rs 5 crore by promising him a BJP ticket from the Byndoor constituency, another similar fraud case has emerged in Ballari. Revana Siddappa, a former BJP leader and current KRPP party leader, has been apprehended by Kottur police on charges of swindling a retired engineer out of crores of rupees.
Revana Siddappa, in collaboration with Shekhar from Puttur, made promises to retired engineer Shivamurthy of Kottur, assuring him a BJP ticket from the Hagaribommanahalli constituency. They allegedly deceived him of Rs 1.95 crore. Shivamurthy discovered the fraud when the ticket was awarded to someone else.
Moreover, when Shivamurthy confronted Revanasiddappa about the deceit, the former BJP leader reportedly threatened him. In an attempt to resolve the matter, village leaders mediated a compromise, and Revanasiddappa issued two cheques, guaranteeing the return of the money. However, both cheques bounced. Consequently, Shivamurthy lodged a complaint at the Kottur police station.
Since the registration of the case, Revana Siddappa, the primary suspect, had been evading arrest. Nevertheless, the police successfully located and apprehended him. Vijayanagar Superintendent of Police Sriharibabu has confirmed the arrest of the accused.
