Bengaluru: In a major blow to international narcotics smuggling networks, Bengaluru Customs officials seized 22.04 kilograms of Hydroponic Ganja worth ₹7.71 crore at Kempegowda International Airport and arrested three passengers arriving from Bangkok, officials said on Monday.
The seizure was made following intensive passenger profiling and surveillance of inbound international flights from Thailand. During inspection, Customs officers found the high-value contraband concealed inside the checked-in baggage of the three accused.
According to officials, the recovered Hydroponic Ganja — a premium, high-potency variant of cannabis — was intended for illegal distribution in the domestic market. The accused were immediately taken into custody.
“All three passengers have been arrested under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway to trace the broader smuggling network,” a Customs official said.
The operation highlights increased vigilance at Bengaluru Airport as enforcement agencies continue to crack down on drug trafficking, international smuggling syndicates, and airport-based narcotics operations.
