Bengaluru: In a major offensive against corruption, the Karnataka Lokayukta Police on Monday conducted simultaneous search operations at more than 17 locations across Karnataka, targeting four government officials accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The coordinated raids were carried out across Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Karwar and Raichuru districts, covering the residences, offices and properties belonging to the accused officials as well as their relatives.
Assets Worth Crores Unearthed
According to Lokayukta officials, searches led to the recovery of large quantities of immovable properties, cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables, with total assets running into several crores of rupees.
1. Shamasundar Maruthi Kamble
(Assistant Secretary, Zilla Panchayat, Bagalkote)
- Raids conducted at four locations
- 15 residential sites, 3 houses
- Gold ornaments worth ₹28 lakh
- Total assets valued at ₹2.04 crore
2. Mallappa Hanamanthappa Yarazari
(Assistant Director, Agriculture Department, Vijayapura)
- Searches at four locations
- 20 acres of agricultural land, 3 sites, 2 houses
- Cash of ₹14.42 lakh
- Gold ornaments worth ₹86.47 lakh
- Total assets valued at ₹2.57 crore
3. Maruthi Yashwanth Malvi
(CEO, Kolsiri Co-operative Society, Siddapur)
- Raids revealed the highest asset value among the four
- Commercial complex, 7 sites, 4 houses
- Vehicles worth ₹62 lakh
- Total assets valued at ₹9.89 crore
4. D. Vijayalakshmi
(Assistant Executive Engineer, Rural Drinking Water Supply, Raichuru)
- Searches conducted at five locations
- 12 sites, 2 houses, over 73 acres of agricultural land
- Bank deposits and vehicles also seized
- Total assets valued at ₹4.09 crore



DA Cases Registered
The Lokayukta Police have registered formal Disproportionate Assets (DA) cases against all four officials under relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway to verify income sources, property transactions and financial records.
Senior Lokayukta officials said the raids were part of a continued crackdown on corruption in government departments, and more such operations are likely in the coming days.
