Bengaluru: In a strong affirmation of its sustainability vision, Prestige Group, one of India’s leading real estate developers, has adopted two male tiger cubs — Simba and Sheru — at the Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) near Bengaluru. The Group will fund their care for the next five years, covering food, veterinary care, habitat enrichment, and public education programs aimed at promoting wildlife conservation and biodiversity awareness.
The adoption marks a new dimension in Prestige Group’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework — extending its leadership in green development, urban ecology, and sustainability into species conservation.
Corporate–Conservation Synergy:
Nirbhay Lumde, Senior Vice President (ESG & Sustainability) at Prestige Group, said:
“Our responsibility to the environment begins with what we build and extends to how we nurture the world around us. With Simba and Sheru, we aim to promote coexistence and inspire collective action toward protecting India’s natural heritage. Every small act strengthens our shared commitment to conservation.”
A V Surya Sen IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Executive Director of BBP, welcomed the initiative:
“We are deeply grateful to Prestige Group for adopting and naming Simba and Sheru. The funds from this adoption will directly support feed, medical care, and habitat enrichment. Corporate participation like this builds a vital bridge between conservation and community engagement.”
Broader Impact and Vision:
BBP — home to hundreds of rescued and endangered species — has played a vital role in conservation education, wildlife rehabilitation, and ecological research. Prestige’s partnership will strengthen BBP’s outreach programs for schoolchildren, visitors, and local communities, raising awareness about coexistence and biodiversity protection.
Beyond this initiative, Prestige Group has launched several eco-restoration projects in Karnataka, including native tree plantations, lake rejuvenation, and urban greenway maintenance. The tiger adoption, company officials said, is a natural extension of its “build green, live green” philosophy.
“As Simba and Sheru grow under care, their story will embody our belief that development and nature can coexist harmoniously,” the Group stated.
