Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister on Thursday said he has worked at every level of the Congress party, asserting that his political journey goes far beyond delivering speeches from the stage.
“I have not just sat on the dais and made speeches. I have done every kind of work in the party,” Shivakumar told reporters near his residence in Sadashivanagar, shortly after meeting , the AICC President, in Bengaluru.
‘I Am a Lifetime Worker’
Responding to questions about his remarks in Delhi that he wished to remain a party worker, Shivakumar said,
“I am a lifetime Congress worker. I have hoisted party flags as a worker and as a party president. I have pasted posters, swept floors, and done everything the party required of me.”
CWC Meeting: “Will Go If Invited”
Asked whether he would attend the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Delhi, Shivakumar said,
“If I am invited, I will definitely go. As of now, I have not received an invitation.”
When reporters pointed out that the Chief Minister had been invited, Shivakumar responded that he was aware of it but added, “The Deputy Chief Minister has not been invited.”
On whether the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president would be invited, he said that expanded committee meetings usually include state presidents.
No Leadership Discussion With Kharge
On speculation about leadership discussions with Kharge, Shivakumar categorically denied any such talks.
“There has been no discussion on leadership. I don’t discuss it, and there is no need to. Both Chief Minister and I have already made our stand clear. We will work according to whatever decision the high command takes,” he said.
