KOLLEGAL:
Forest Department officials have arrested four youths for illegally hunting wild animals and selling their skin and bones in the protected areas of the Male Mahadeshwara Wildlife Division and BRT Tiger Reserve.
The accused were arrested near the Gundal reservoir in Kollegal taluk. They are Mahadeva from Nallikatri village of Hannur, Kumar and Mahadev from Gombegalu taluk amd Ranagaswamy. All four are from the Soliga community.
The forest officials have seized tiger bones and claws, cheetah claws, two deer skins, two wild sheep skins, a sambar deer skin, wild dog skin, and flying squirrel skin. Two bikes have also been seized.
The operation was jointly conducted by officials of Malemahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, BRT Tiger Reserve and Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary.
