Bengaluru: A 53-year-old woman was charred to death after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a four-storey residence in Gayathri Nagar, Bengaluru, on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Savita, wife of contractor Ramesh Babu. The fire reportedly erupted in the third-floor kitchen of their house, leading to a massive blaze that quickly engulfed the area.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot immediately upon receiving information and launched rescue operations. Ramesh Babu, his mother Chinnamma, and their son were safely rescued from the building.
The injured have been admitted to Manipal Hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
Senior police officials, including Malleswaram ACP Venu Gopal and officers from Subramanyanagar Police Station, visited the scene to assess the situation. A detailed inspection was carried out.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary findings are yet to confirm whether it was due to a gas leak, electrical short circuit, or other reasons.
