Hints at new Central guidelines after May 3
BENGALURU:
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has advised industries in the state to prepare to resume operations.
At a meeting with members of various associations of commerce and industry, he suggested that the state government was expecting further Central guidelines on resuming industrial operations after May 3.
Those present complimented the Chief Minister for his leadership role in effectively containing Covid-19 in the state.
Yediyurappa said the government is aware of the problems industrialists are facing, but appealed to them to pay wages/salaries to their employees. He asked them to take all precautionary measures for the safety of employees in factory premises.
The government has already permitted resumption of industrial activity in green zones, he noted.
During the meeting, it was clarified that the Labour Department has provided permission to factory owners regarding extension of working hours.
Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, Labour Minister Arabail Shivarama Hebbar, and representatives of FKCCI, KASSIA, FICCI, CII, AWAKE, ASSOCHAM, BCIC, Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs and other organisations were present at the meeting.
