Bengaluru: The year 2025 slipped into history, and Bengaluru rolled out a grand, high-energy welcome to 2026, with celebrations reaching a fever pitch across the city’s major hotspots.
Iconic stretches such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, and Koramangala witnessed a massive surge of revellers, with thousands of youngsters flooding the streets to ring in the New Year. Music, cheers, whistles and applause echoed across the city as the clock struck midnight.
Pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels were packed to capacity, with partygoers dancing late into the night to DJ music. From rooftop parties to street-side celebrations, Bengaluru truly lived up to its reputation as a New Year hotspot.
Tight Police Vigil Prevents Untoward Incidents
With memories of past crowd-related incidents still fresh, the Bengaluru Police enforced strict crowd-control measures. Barricades were erected at sensitive locations, entry and exit points were regulated, and additional police personnel were deployed across celebration zones.

Police Commissioner S. Seemanth Kumar Singh personally supervised crowd management at MG Road and Brigade Road, remaining on the field till late night to ensure public safety. Authorities maintained that celebrations remained largely peaceful despite the massive turnout.
Several flyovers were temporarily closed from late evening, leading to traffic congestion in parts of the city, but police coordinated diversions to ease movement.

The New Year spirit was not limited to Bengaluru alone. Cities and towns across Karnataka joined the celebrations in full swing.
- Belagavi marked the New Year symbolically by burning effigies of the “Old Year,” bidding farewell to 2025.
