Bengaluru: Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday asserted that there is no confusion regarding the alliance in the upcoming Greater Bengaluru civic elections, and warned party leaders and workers against making public statements that could damage coalition unity.
Addressing a crucial election strategy meeting at the party office, held in the presence of JDS National President and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy said that any local misunderstandings within the alliance should be resolved internally.
“Do not speak to the media on internal matters. Bring issues to our notice instead,” he cautioned leaders and workers.

Referring to the recent Maharashtra local body election results, Kumaraswamy said the NDA’s strong performance there should serve as a confidence booster. He urged BJP and JDS cadres to work together with discipline and coordination to replicate similar success in Bengaluru.
Launching a sharp attack on the ruling Congress government in Karnataka, Kumaraswamy alleged large-scale misgovernance.
“Bengaluru’s infrastructure has collapsed. Potholes are everywhere. Through higher taxes and price hikes, people are being looted. Corruption has crossed all limits,” he said, adding that voters were ready to teach the Congress a lesson in the civic polls.
Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, addressing the gathering, stressed the importance of strengthening the party at ward and booth levels.
“Our party has a strong foundation in Bengaluru. As Chief Minister and Prime Minister, I contributed significantly to the city’s development,” he said, listing achievements such as bringing Cauvery water to Bengaluru, constructing the Sirsi Circle flyover, and promoting the IT sector with tax incentives.
Youth Janata Dal State President Nikhil Kumaraswamy also addressed the meeting, highlighting youth mobilisation and grassroots outreach.
The meeting was attended by Core Committee Chairman M. Krishnareddy, Legislature Party Leader Suresh Babu, MP Mallesh Babu, former MLAs, and senior leaders from all Bengaluru city constituencies.
