As a follow-up to the Centre’s permission to bakery, biscuit, condiment, confectionery and sweet manufacturing, supply and retail units to operate with minimum staff/labour during the lockdown, a circular by the Karnataka government has reiterated the Central government’s order along with a list of guidelines.
The Centre’s order has been issued considering that bakery products and related items are consumed by patients, elderly people, children and the general public.
According to the guidelines, all employers shall ensure that the units maintain a high standard of health, hygiene, sanitation and social distancing.
GUIDELINES
1. No sitting arrangements for customers. Only parcel/ takeaway services.
2. Thermal scanners for screening of all employees. Anyone found with a fever needs to be reported to the local health department.
3. All employees and visitors must use hand sanitizers / soap.
4. Masks to all employees, to be worn without fail.
5. Safe distance of 1.5 metres between employees.
6. Employees to avoid physical greeting.
7. Precautionary measures like posters at the workplace in local language.
8. To provide hot water facility for drinking.
9. Employees to carry their own water bottles and maintain high standards of personal hygiene by washing hands with soap before and after use of common facilities.
10.To ensure hand sanitizers, soap and running water in washrooms.
11. To make sure housekeeping team cleans all access gates, handrails, door handles/knobs frequently.
12. In the cafeteria/canteen area, canteen workers should wear gloves, masks and maintain hygiene at all times.
13. Any employee having cough, cold, fever or any visible symptoms is advised to leave the workplace.
14. Employees who have undertaken personal / business travel abroad are advised to stay at home for a period of two weeks and seek prior approval of the management before they return to work.
15. To avoid all internal meetings and training programmes involving the assembly of employees/ officers.
16. Biometrics to be discontinued.
17. To operate the units with a bare minimum strength of staff/labour.
18. All other preventive measures issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, from time to time are to be complied with.
