BENGALURU:
The High Court has granted bail to ACP Prabhushankar of the Central Crime Branch, who has been suspended for allegedly extorting money from cigarette traders.
On Friday, Prabhushankar appeared before the ACB after getting bail. He later requested a hearing on Saturday, citing illness, to which the court agreed. Meanwhile, Prabhushankar has filed a petition in the High Court seeking the cancellation of two separate FIRs filed against him.
Justice R Devadas, who was hearing the petition, issued a notice to the Cottonpet police station of the CCB and the complainants Shaji George Thomas and Adil Aziz. The hearing is set for June 3.
Prabhushankar is accused of taking bribes to allow illegal cigarette sales during the lockdown.
