Bengaluru: A devastating multi-vehicle collision near Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru claimed seven lives early Friday morning after a canter truck reportedly suffered a sudden axle failure, triggering a chain reaction crash.
According to preliminary police sources, the accident occurred when the axle of a moving canter vehicle snapped, causing it to lose control and overturn. An XUV700 SUV travelling behind rammed into the disabled truck. The impact was so severe that all six occupants inside the SUV died on the spot.

Moments later, a motorcyclist approaching the scene lost control and crashed into the wreckage, succumbing to injuries. Another car was also involved in the pile-up, though its occupants escaped with minor injuries.
Visuals from the scene show the XUV700 completely mangled, indicating the high-speed impact. Police officials suspect that speed combined with the mechanical failure of the canter may have contributed to the tragedy.

Initial reports suggest the deceased were residents of Kolar district and were travelling towards Devanahalli in the early morning hours. All bodies have been shifted to Hoskote Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Senior district officials have visited the accident site, and a detailed investigation is underway.
Authorities are examining the mechanical condition of the canter and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact sequence of events.

The incident has once again raised concerns about vehicle maintenance standards and highway safety enforcement on Karnataka roads.
