Corona survivor praises dedication, care of docs, nurses
BENGALURU:
As more and more infected people, especially the younger, digitally savvy set, recover from the coronavirus, they are posting videos on the net about their experience.
On Saturday, ‘Kunal’ spoke feelingly about the dedication and care of the staff at KC General Hospital, where he had spent 22 days in isolation. He praised the doctors, nurses and psychiatrists for their 24/7 care, and urged people with coronavirus symptoms to not delay going to a hospital.
Excerpts from the video:
“Hello, my name is Kunal. I was infected with the coronavirus for the last 22 days and got discharged yesterday… I will share everything with you… Never be afraid of the coronavirus, never get tensed that you are affected and it is life-threatening.
“Our doctors and sisters are giving really good treatment, they are 24/7 available for us. Everyday a psychiatrist calls and asks us about our physical and mental condition and any problem we have that can be shared with them. Even if I call them up at midnight or 2 am, the doctors are available to help. Everyday, the doctors and nurses visit our ward and ask us if we require anything. On the day of Ugadi, they came and wished all the patients. In the isolation ward, they have kept us away from family because family members should not get infected.
In the ward you can talk to other patients with distancing. You can use your phone, laptop and can walk in the room as the entire day you will be free. It is actually very good, and there is no other problem faced. The isolation ward is not like a jail, it was good. I have made new friends with other patients in the last 22 days.
“I would say don’t panic, stay safe and stay clean. In case you are infected, don’t stay at home, instead go to the hospital. The hospitals will give you 5-star treatment. As all our gurus’ and gods’ blessings are there, we had no tension. We will be fit, fine and healthy, as I am right now. Thank you so much to all the doctors.
‘I am telling you all, don’t take a risk, do what the government says. If infected, please go to a hospital, they will take care of you properly. It is good for you, your family and all of us. Thank you so much.”
Send-off with applause, bouquet
It was a pleasant surprise for the young man as the healthcare staff and doctors at KC General Hospital gave him a rousing send-off on Friday, following his recovery from Covid-19. The heart-warming video of the staff clapping in unison as he comes out of the ward has gone viral on social media.
Needless to say, all the safety protocols like social distancing were observed even during this happy moment. The doctors handed him a bouquet and the overwhelmed young man, with face mask still on, made an attempt to touch the feet of his saviours.
