Bengaluru: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Devanahalli, have seized hydroponic ganja worth ₹2.97 crore and arrested three individuals in two separate cases, officials said.
According to sources, the accused arrived at Bengaluru from Phuket in Thailand and Malaysia. During inspection at the immigration and customs screening area, officials found 8.5 kilograms of hydroponic ganja concealed in packets inside their luggage bags.
The seized contraband is estimated to have a market value of ₹2.97 crore, making it one of the significant drug seizures at the airport in recent months.
Customs officials have initiated legal proceedings under relevant provisions of the law, and further investigation is underway to determine possible links to an international drug smuggling network, sources added.
