Bengaluru, February 4: Continuing its crackdown on non-compliant Paying Guest (PG) accommodations, the Bengaluru North City Corporation on Tuesday sealed four PG establishments for violating prescribed public health and hygiene guidelines.
Acting on the directions of Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, inspection teams carried out checks across multiple wards to ensure PG facilities adhere to safety, sanitation, and operational norms. Establishments found flouting regulations were identified for immediate action, including sealing of premises.
In Zone–02, Ward No. 12 (Shettihalli area), two men’s PGs — Sunrise Boys PG and Balaji N.S. Luxury PG — were found operating in violation of the guidelines. Following the inspection, residents were vacated and both premises were sealed in the presence of Health Department officials.
During the same inspection drive, Sharada Ladies PG in the Shettihalli area was also sealed after officials observed poor kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.
In a separate action under Zone–01, Ward No. 3 (Attur, Yelahanka 4th Phase), Sri Anjani Ladies PG was sealed for failing to maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas, posing a potential public health risk.
In total, three PGs in Zone–02 and one PG in Zone–01 — amounting to four establishments — were sealed in a single day as part of the ongoing enforcement drive.
The Commissioner warned that strict and uncompromising action will continue against PGs that operate without authorisation or repeatedly violate civic and health regulations. He reiterated that safeguarding public health remains the Corporation’s top priority, especially in high-density residential accommodations.
