This year’s Independence Day celebrations, to be held at the Manekshaw Parade Grounds, will have 25 Covid warriors and 25 Covid survivors in attendance.
At a presser on Thursday, BBMP chief Manjunatha Prasad said, “There will be no cultural events this year, and no access to the public. Only 25 Covid warriors and 25 Covid-cured persons will be part of the event.”
No parade
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will hoist the tri-colour at 8.58 am and address the people thereafter. There will not be a parade unlike previous years.
Senior officials, including City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant and Bengaluru Urban DC Shivamurthy, were present at the news conference.
