BENGALURU:
In response to reports of private hospitals denying admission to BBMP-referred Covid patients and self-reporting Covid patients, Karnataka Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar has constituted a team of 14 IAS and IPS officers to monitor compliance of private hospitals in Bengaluru with their obligation to reserve 50 per cent of their beds for Covid patients.
The order, issued on Sunday, says the officers will be assisted by one officer each from BWSSB and BESCOM and one Arogya Mitra from Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST).
The order lists the following tasks for the officers:
- Seeing that BBMP-referred patients are not denied beds under the government quota
- Admissions and discharges are done through the portal provided by BBMP and SAST
- A detailed bed allocation display is put up at private hospitals
- Telephone numbers of Covid-contact officers are displayed
- Beds meant for critical Covid patients are not blocked by asymptomatic patients
The officers are: Uma Mahadevan, IAS, Suni Agarwal, IPS, Mohammed Mohsin, IAS, Harishekharan, IPS, Ekroop Kaur, IAS, Alikhana S Murthy, IPS, Maheshwar Rao, IAS, K T Balakrishna, IPS, Kapil Mohan, IAS, Ramachandra Rao, IPS, Harsh Gupta, IAS, D Roopa, IPS, Gaurav Gupta, IAS and Alok Kumar, IPS.
The team will be monitoring 31 private hospitals in the city for Covid-compliance.
