BENGALURU: In a recent development, M. Maheshwar Rao, a seasoned 1995 batch IAS officer and the current managing director of Bengaluru Metro, has been appointed as the chief commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagarpalika by the Karnataka government.
This appointment follows the transfer of Tushar Giri Nath, a 1993 batch IAS officer, from his role as chief commissioner of BBMP. As per the order issued on Monday evening, Tushar Giri Nath has been reassigned as the additional chief secretary of the Urban Development Department, and as BBMP administrator where he will be responsible for overseeing the administration of BBMP.

Furthermore, Tushar Giri Nath will also take on the role of additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department of Karnataka concurrently. This restructuring of responsibilities is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of administrative functions within the state government.
