India is gearing up to tackle a peak power demand of 270 GW this summer, with the assurance of running thermal plants at full capacity if required, according to Union Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal. The nation holds an adequate coal reserve of 51 million tonnes, sufficient for 21 days of electricity generation.
