New York / Bengaluru: A 24-year-old student from Karnataka pursuing higher studies in the United States has been reported missing in California, triggering concern among family members and the Indian community.
Saketh Srinivasayya, who was studying for a Master’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley, has been untraceable for the past two days, according to his family and friends. He was last reportedly seen on February 12 near a lake at Tilden Regional Park in California.
Family members said Saketh had spoken to his mother over the phone earlier, but when she attempted to call him back, he did not respond. Since then, there has been no contact, raising anxiety among his parents.
According to reports by The Berkeley Scanner, Saketh’s bag containing his passport and laptop was found near a residence in the Park Hills neighbourhood. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco has expressed serious concern over the incident and is reportedly in touch with local authorities. Search efforts are believed to be ongoing as officials attempt to trace the missing student.
