Reduced syllabus next year: HRD minister
New Delhi:
Ending the suspense of thousands of students across the country, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday announced a further postponement of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 by two more months.
According to sources, the IIT-JEE (Main) examination will be held on July 18, 20, 21, 22, and 23, and the NEET will be held on July 26. The IIT-JEE Advanced exam will be held in August, but the exact dates will be announced later.
It has also been decided that for the next academic year, students will have to learn a reduced syllabus. The HRD minister said the syllabus will be reduced for the upcoming academic session as students have lost valuable academic time due to the lockdown. The JEE Main and NEET 2021 will be conducted as per the reduced syllabus.
Earlier, the JEE Main this year was scheduled between April 5 and 11.
According to reports, over 9 lakh students have been awaiting the announcement of the JEE Main dates, while 15.93 lakh have applied for NEET 2020 across the country.
