DyCM Ashwath Narayan launches week-long online training programme for O&M of oxygen plants
BENGALURU:
A week-long online ITI master trainer programme on ‘operation and maintenance of oxygen plants’ was rolled out on Thursday.
DyCM CN Ashwath Narayan, who is also Minister for Skill Development, while inaugurating the programme, said it will help to create a pool of quick maintenance technicians for oxygen plants.
Job opportunities
Till now, hospitals have depended largely on liquid oxygen to meet their demands. But this has its own logistical and other issues. To overcome this, the plan is to set up more than 350 oxygen generation plants in the state. Candidates who are trained in the programme will have employment opportunities in these plants, the DyCM said.
DIET (District Institute of Education & Training) Karnataka has nominated 81 instructors for the programme. These trainers will also train around 300 ITI pass-outs in the trades of fitter, welder, electronics, mechanic, electrician and instrumentation at the rate of 10 candidates from each district, Narayan said.
The programme will be approved by the National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET- New Delhi) and comprises 80 hours of theory and 100 hours on-job training in oxygen plants, he said.
The online training organised by the National Skill Training Institute will end on July 28. TVLN Rao, Regional Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and others were present on the occasion.
