Karnataka Education
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has approved the introduction of English medium (bilingual medium) classes in 984 government primary schools across the state starting from the 2025-26 academic year. These classes will be offered alongside the existing Kannada and other medium sections using locally available resources.
The government issued an order on Friday directing the education department officials and school heads to ensure that trained teachers within the schools themselves conduct the English medium teaching wherever available. This initiative aims to enhance bilingual education access for primary school students in government institutions.
The move reflects the state’s effort to provide more inclusive and versatile educational opportunities by supplementing native language instruction with English medium classes in government schools.
