 
                  Bengaluru: The Karnataka cabinet has decided to withdraw 60 police cases registered against farmers, students, and Kannada activists, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil announced on Thursday.
“We have withdrawn 60 cases which were filed by the government. They include cases booked against farmers, students, and Kannada activists across various police stations,” Patil told reporters while briefing cabinet decisions. He, however, did not share specific details of the withdrawn cases.
Metro Expansion and Infrastructure Push
The cabinet also approved the construction of a 37.121 km double-decker metro viaduct and elevated road along two corridors of Phase-3 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. The project will connect JP Nagar 4th Phase to Hebbal (ORR West) and Hosahalli to Kadabagere via Magadi Road at an estimated cost of ₹9,700 crore.
In another major decision, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) received administrative approval to purchase 25 acres of land from the Karnataka Housing Board at a cost of ₹65 crore for establishing a new medical college at Rayasandra village in Kanakapura taluk, Bengaluru South.
Land Lease, BWSSB Projects, and Urban Development
Approval was also given for leasing land to the Congress Bhavan Trust for constructing a party office at Koppal and Badami.
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) received clearance for the construction of six new wastewater treatment plants at different locations in Bengaluru, along with operation and maintenance for seven years, at a cost of ₹956.67 crore.
The cabinet sanctioned ₹398 crore to develop backward colonies inhabited by minorities in urban constituencies into “model colonies.”
Road Safety, E-Governance, and Welfare Schemes
Under the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims (CTRAV) Scheme 2025, the cabinet approved ₹1 lakh state assistance for road accident victims, in addition to the Government of India’s grant of ₹1.5 lakh.
The government also notified “The Karnataka Management Rules, e-Sakshya 2025” to streamline digital evidence (e-evidence) collection and management. This will allow courts to access evidence such as video recordings and photographs through the CIS (Case Information System), ICIS (Integrated Court Information System), and the e-evidence portal. Approval was also given for “The Karnataka Service of Summons by Police Officer Rules, 2025.”
Further, approvals were granted for welfare programmes, including the purchase and distribution of sanitary napkins under the “Suchi” programme at a cost of ₹71.83 crore, and the “Asha Kirana” scheme to provide spectacles to needy beneficiaries in all districts at a cost of ₹52.85 crore.
