BENGALURU: CID has initiated an investigation into an alleged honeytrap attempt on Minister Rajanna and MLC Rajendra. The son of Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna and Congress MLC K N Rajendra reported that officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have started a preliminary inquiry into the matter. They visited the official residence of Minister Rajanna to gather information.
Rajendra met with Karnataka DGP and IGP Alok Mohan to discuss the alleged attempt on his father’s life. He confirmed that the CID has taken over the case and has already begun questioning staff at the government house on Jayamahal Road. Rajendra emphasized that the investigation was initiated based on a petition submitted to the Home Minister.
Minister Rajanna had previously submitted a petition to State Home Minister G Parameshwara, requesting a thorough investigation into the honeytrap attempts. Parameshwara assured that the government would carefully review the petition and take necessary action within the legal framework.
During a recent Assembly session, Minister Rajanna disclosed that he was a target of honeytrap attempts, along with 48 other politicians from various parties. However, Rajendra clarified that no such attempt had been made against him personally.
The CID’s involvement in the case signifies a significant step towards uncovering the truth behind the alleged honeytrap attempt on Minister Rajanna and MLC Rajendra. The government’s commitment to addressing such serious matters demonstrates a dedication to upholding the law and ensuring justice prevails.
He stated that he had only disclosed specific phone calls to the media. On November 16, it was my daughter’s birthday. The day before, a group of individuals arrived to set up a shamiana. Allegedly, they had come with the intention of assaulting or even murdering me as part of a contract. Fortunately, their attempt was unsuccessful. I only learned about this in January after receiving a voice recording from a reliable source.
The recording mentioned two names – Soma and Bharath, who were heard discussing a payment of Rs 5 lakh made to their account. Rajendra recently brought this alarming matter to the attention of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who advised him to gather all relevant information and submit it to the DGP.
I am unfamiliar with the two individuals mentioned in the conversation and their motives. I have informed both the Chief Minister and the Home Minister about this issue. Additionally, I have submitted the audio recording and all related information to the DG, who suggested that I approach the SP (Tumakuru) and file a complaint there, which I plan to do tomorrow.
