Karnataka Government Issues Draft Notification for Ward-Wise Delimitation of Five Corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority; Objections Invited Until October 15

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Tuesday issued a draft notification for ward-wise delimitation of five city corporations under the proposed Greater Bengaluru Authority, inviting objections and suggestions from the public until October 15.

According to the notification, citizens must submit their objections and recommendations in writing to the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, Room No. 436, 4th Floor, Vikas Soudha, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Bengaluru – 560001. After scrutiny of the submissions, the ward delimitation will be finalized.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has been divided into five corporations: Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru East, Bengaluru West, Bengaluru North, and Bengaluru South. Ward allocations are as follows: 63 wards in Central, 50 in East, 111 in West, 72 in North, and 72 in South.

  • Bengaluru Central Corporation will cover Shivajinagar, Vasanthnagar, Sampangiramnagar, Indiranagar, Halasuru, Richmond Town, Sheshadripuram, Okalipuram, Gopalapura and surrounding areas, totaling 63 wards.
  • Bengaluru East Corporation will include K.R. Puram, Ramamurthynagar, Whitefield, Hoodi, Horamavu, Banaswadi, Medahalli, Belathur and adjoining zones, totaling 50 wards.
  • Bengaluru West Corporation will comprise Malleswaram, Sadashivanagar, Rajajinagar, Peenya, Chokkasandra, Andrahalli, Subedarpalya, and Kempegowda Nagar among others, totaling 111 wards.
  • Bengaluru North Corporation will include Yelahanka Satellite Town, Jakkur, Vidyaranyapura, Thanisandra, Kodigehalli, Singapura, Atturu and nearby wards, totaling 72 wards.
  • Bengaluru South Corporation will cover Jayanagar, Koramangala, BTM Layout, Banashankari, Padmanabhanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, Tilaknagar, Ejipura, Madivala and adjoining areas, totaling 72 wards.

The government stated that objections and suggestions received by the deadline will be duly examined before finalizing the ward-wise delimitation process.
