Hassan/Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared that the Congress government has made history by fulfilling its commitments within the first year of assuming office. “In Karnataka’s political history, only the Congress government has delivered exactly what it promised,” he said on Friday.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Government Services Dedication Ceremony organised by the Hassan District Administration and Zilla Panchayat, where benefits were distributed to citizens and several new development works were launched.

₹298 Crore Worth Projects Launched
Siddaramaiah said that development works worth ₹298 crore were inaugurated or foundation stones laid during the event.
“We understand Hassan’s political landscape and issues clearly, and the government has worked sincerely to address them,” he said.
The CM outlined that the Congress had given 492 pre-election assurances, of which 242 promises have already been fulfilled within two and a half years of governance (2013–2018 and post-2023).
“During our 2013–18 term, we delivered 158 out of 162 promises. After returning to power in May 2023, we focused on implementing the guarantee schemes immediately. As a result, Shakti free bus travel began in June, and so far, more than 600 crore trips have been taken by women across the state,” he added.
Hemavathi Reservoir Park Proposal
District in-charge minister Krishna Byre Gowda proposed developing a tourism-oriented park on 700 acres near the Hemavathi reservoir. Responding positively, the Chief Minister assured that the government would examine and take a decision soon.
“In Karnataka’s history, only the Congress has truly honoured its commitments,” he reiterated.
Guarantee Schemes Fully Implemented Despite Criticism
The CM criticised opposition parties that claimed the guarantees were “impossible to implement.”
“Yet, within a year, we have successfully implemented all guarantee schemes, spending ₹1,08,135 crore. Critics said we would stop them after Lok Sabha elections. But criticisms fade—our pro-people governance remains,” Siddaramaiah said.
“Everyone Must Be Brought Into the Mainstream”
Emphasising constitutional values, Siddaramaiah said:
“The Constitution demands a society free of caste, class and discrimination. Without equality, even 79 years of independence lose meaning.”
He pointed out that despite 75 years of the Constitution, true equality has not been achieved because of entrenched caste structures.
“Rich remain rich, poor remain poor. To correct this imbalance, we introduced the Guarantee Schemes,” he said.
“Let People Respond to Those Calling Guarantees a Waste”
The CM said opponents who term the Shakti scheme “wasteful expenditure” should be answered by the people themselves.
“When we spend ₹1 lakh crore for guarantee schemes, it is for social equality, not politics,” he asserted.
Paying tribute to Dr. B R Ambedkar, he urged society to uproot caste discrimination and pledged that the Congress government stands with Dalits, farmers, women and workers.
Hassan to Receive Continued Focus
Siddaramaiah highlighted that several key development works in Hassan have been completed.
“Whatever we promised during the elections has been delivered. The projects inaugurated today will directly benefit the people. Hassan will continue to receive special attention from our government,” he concluded.
