Four companies have agreed to increase Remdesivir deliveries even further: Ashwath Narayan
BENGALURU:
The four companies which are supplying the antiviral drug Remdesivir to the Karnataka government have agreed to increase the supply to 20,000 vials for the next five days starting from May 6 (Thursday), Deputy Chief Minister and State Covid task force head Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said on Wednesday.
Addressing a presser, Narayana said, “I have spoken to the heads of these four companies and, put together, they have agreed to increase the supply to 20,000 vials. Till now these companies were supplying 10,000 vials in total per day.” He said the companies have agreed to further increase the supply after May 9.

Earlier, Narayan had a telephonic conversation with Nikhil Baswan, Global Head of Cipla, Rakesh Banji of Mylan, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Syngen, and Umangur of Jubiliant.
Remdesivir usage to be recorded
To curb blackmarketing of Remdesivir, the names of patients for whom it is administered will be recorded and the names of those will be put in the public domain to ensure transparency, he explained.
State drug controllers are told to take very strict action against hoarding & black marketing of drugs including #Remdesivir.

The triage of Covid patients will be further strengthened, starting from the PHC level. The additional staff requirement for this will be met by deploying interns as well as final-year graduate and P-G students of all the medical/paramedical courses, Narayan said.
The PHCs have been told to keep adequate stocks of medical consumables such as masks, PPE kits, aprons and pulse oximeters, he said.
