
Arrested chain-snatchers are Hoskote residents with a crime history

Koramangala theft alert! If any residents have had their gold chains snatched, they have a good chance of recovering them. The Koramanagala police recently arrested three persons and recovered six chains worth Rs 12.07 lakh.
The police recovered gold chains weighing roughly 230 grams each, along with a pair of gold bracelets. The cops also seized three two-wheelers — which were also stolen — which were used to commit the crimes.
16 chain-snatching cases solved
The accused have been identified as Muniyappa @ Mahesh bin Kumarappa (27 years) Chandu MN @ John bin Muniyallappa (21) and Jaikumar @ JE bin Lakshmana (28). All three are residents of Hoskote taluk and were resorting to chain snatching in the Koramangala police station limits. Other accused have admitted that they resorted to chain snatching in the HAL Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Whitefield, Channammanan Achukatte and Mallur Town police station limits. A total of 6 chain-snatching cases have been solved.
As per the police, accused Muniyappa @ Mahesh was jailed for six years after he was arrested for his involvement in more than 12 chain-snatching cases. Another accused Chandu MN @ John was jailed for two years under the Pocso (Protection of children from sexual offences) Act.

A team led by DCP Srinath Mahadeva Joshi, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madiwala Sub-Division) Sudheer M Hegade, Koramangala police station Police Inspector Ravi KB, PSI Siddhappa and ASI Ravindra Kumar conducted the investigation.
