Bengaluru: State-owned Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) has achieved its highest-ever monthly production, manufacturing a total of 4,894.777 metric tonnes of products in January, Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil announced on Tuesday.
In a press release, the Minister said January’s output included 3,798 tonnes of soaps, 941 tonnes of detergents, and 155 tonnes of cosmetics, marking a significant milestone in the company’s operational performance.
Patil noted that KSDL has consistently improved its production benchmarks over the years. Earlier record outputs included 3,113 tonnes in September 2020, 2,744 tonnes in November 2021, 3,650 tonnes in September 2022, 4,144 tonnes in November 2023, 4,486 tonnes in March 2025, and 4,735 tonnes in December 2025.
The Minister attributed the latest achievement to market expansion initiatives, stronger branding in North India and overseas markets, and the introduction of a continuous, quality-driven production system operating across three shifts.
KSDL currently manufactures over 45 products, with additional products slated for launch in the coming days. The state-owned enterprise has set an ambitious target to scale up its annual turnover to ₹5,000 crore by 2030, Patil said.
Commenting on the milestone, Prashanth KPN, Managing Director of KSDL, said the record production was achieved using existing infrastructure, without recruiting additional staff or procuring new machinery. He credited the achievement to the dedication and efficiency of KSDL employees, thanking them for their contribution to the company’s growth.
The record-breaking performance reinforces KSDL’s position as one of Karnataka’s most successful public sector enterprises and a flagship brand in India’s FMCG space.
