Roses for women passengers on Rajya Rani Express
BENGALURU:
South Western Railway celebrate International Women’s Day with a difference at the KSR Bengaluru railway station on Sunday.
An all-woman crew of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Rajya Rani Express was flagged off at 10.30 am by Additional Divisional Railway Manager Kalyani Sethuraman, Bengaluru Division, together with Kusum Latha Meena, Bengaluru Divisional President, South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (SWRWWO) and other lady officers.
Also, roses were given out by women railway officials and TT’s to women passengers in the train.
Ashok Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Division, extended his greetings to all the women officers and staff of Bengaluru Division and commended their contribution to the growth of the railways.
Of about 10,000 railway staff in Bengaluru Division, around 1,100 are women. Representation of women employees is spread across various departments and grades — right from Track Maintainer to Additional Divisional Railway Manager.
Bengaluru Division is conducting a Women’s Day Campaign from March 1 to 10 with various programmes and activities to recognize the proactive contribution of women officials of Bengaluru Division.
