Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that any decision regarding a leadership change in the Congress would be taken by Rahul Gandhi, and the party in Karnataka would remain fully committed to the high command’s decision.
Speaking to the media in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah stated, “The leadership change is for Rahul Gandhi to decide. Whatever decision he takes, we will abide by it.”
‘Committed to High Command’s Decision’
Reiterating his stand, the Chief Minister said he had already discussed the issue with party seniors.
“I have spoken to the party leadership. They said a decision will be taken at the appropriate time. We are fully committed to whatever the high command decides,” he said.
‘Leadership Change Is a Media Creation’
Dismissing continued speculation, Siddaramaiah said the leadership change narrative was largely being driven by the media.
“The media is discussing this issue repeatedly. After clarifying it in the Assembly, there is no need to keep revisiting the same topic,” he remarked.
On Rajanna–DK Shivakumar Meeting
Responding to questions about former minister K. N. Rajanna meeting Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah questioned the controversy around it.
“What is wrong if Rajanna meets D. K. Shivakumar? He is the party president. Is it a mistake to meet the party president?” he asked.
Apex Bank Appointment Clarification
When asked about claims that Rajanna was appointed Apex Bank president by one leader or another, Siddaramaiah downplayed the issue.
“Whether I did it or someone else did it while in power is not important. At that time, S. M. Krishna was the Chief Minister. It was a government decision,” he clarified.
Budget Preparations
Replying to a query on whether preparations for the state budget had begun, the Chief Minister said details would be shared at the appropriate time.
“We will inform you when the preparations are underway,” he added.
