BBMP's JDS corporator Imran Pasha
BENGALURU:
After MLA Zameer Ahmed, another Muslim leader has offered financial aid to the kin of 4 persons belonging to their community who died when the police resorted to firing to control the situation during the recent riots at DJ Halli and KG Halli.
Calling the 4 who lost their lives ‘martyrs’, BBMP’s Padarayanapura corporator Imran Pasha has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to their families.
Pasha’s Facebook post reads: “Alhamdulillah, my stand on the DJ Halli riots and my support to BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan Saheb’s announcement of Rs 5 lakh compensation to the 4 martyrs. Inshallah, I too will be joining the cause by announcing Rs 2 lakh each to the martyrs’ families. Finally, slamming BJP’s KS Eshwarappa for making negative comments on our leaders and the victims.”
Earlier, MLA Zameer Ahmed had announced ‘compensation’ of Rs 5 lakh to the relatives of those who died when the police were forced to open fire on the huge mob that had run amok in DJ Halli and KG Halli.
Cong embarrassment
Meanwhile, KPCC president DK Shivakumar and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah have resorted to some damage control, saying that giving compensation to families of mobsters who were killed in police firing will send out the wrong message. They have suggested that financial aid to the kin of the deceased should be a private matter and not be publicised.
