Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police have registered a case following a complaint by a woman alleging that her private photographs were shared without consent. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Byatarayanapura Police Station, officials confirmed.
Addressing the media, Yathish N, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said the complainant approached the police stating that certain private images of herself and her sister were allegedly accessed and shared by her 23-year-old daughter.
According to the police, preliminary inquiry revealed that the daughter had recently entered into a registered marriage with a man without the family’s prior knowledge and subsequently left home. During this period, she is alleged to have left behind her mobile phone and laptop at the residence.

“When the complainant checked these devices, it came to light that the images had allegedly been shared with the daughter’s husband,” the DCP said. Based on this information, a formal complaint was lodged and a case has been registered.
Police officials clarified that the intent behind sharing the images—including whether there was any element of coercion or misuse—is currently under investigation.
“At this stage, the motive is not clear. We have initiated standard procedures, including seizure of electronic devices and forwarding them for forensic analysis (FSL),” DCP Yathish N added.
The police have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation, stating that further details will emerge after forensic reports and examination of digital evidence.
