Decision follows detection of city’s first corona virus case
BENGALURU:
Close on the heels of the first corona virus-positive case being detected in Bengaluru, the state government has announced school holidays till class five. All primary and pre-primary children will now be on holiday indefinitely.
The decision was taken in an inter-department coordination committee meeting chaired by Chief secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar. It was taken following a recommendation by the state health and family welfare department.
Later, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar tweeted: “All primary classes in BBMP, Bangalore Urban and Bangalore Rural dist. to be suspended and holidays for those children till further orders (as decided in the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary).”
