Sood order says they should be posted in ‘safe places’
BENGALURU:
Keeping the health of older policemen in mind, Karnataka DG and IGP Praveen Sood has issued a directive to not put police officers over 55 years on Covid-related duties.
Staff who suffer from diabetes, BP, asthma, kidney and liver problems, and cardiovascular problems should also not be put on Covid-19 duty in public places.
Sood said in the order that policemen above 55 years should be posted within police stations or in any safe place.
“The Covid-19 pandemic affects the elderly and the sick. It is our job to take care of the health of our staff. Thus, those who are over 55 years of age should not be put on Covid duty on roads and at checkposts,” he said.
After Sood’s order, senior police officers across the state have been notified that their duty should be either inside the station or in safe places.
