Government Remains Resolute Against Pressure from Private Institutions, Upholds Current Fee Structure
Bengaluru: In a pivotal announcement, the Karnataka state government has confirmed that there will be no increase in the fee structure for medical and dental courses for the upcoming academic year, despite significant pressure from private medical colleges.
During a meeting with representatives from private medical and dental college managements, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, the Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Livelihood, and District In-Charge Minister for Raichur, made this important clarification on Saturday.
Private institutions had requested a fee increase ranging from 10% to 15%. However, Minister Patil emphasized that while a 10% increase was permitted last year, the government will not allow any fee hikes this year.
Addressing concerns raised during the meeting, Minister Patil reiterated that the previous year’s 10% increase was adequate and firmly stated that there will be no fee adjustments this year. He also announced that a formal agreement to solidify this decision will be signed shortly.
