BENGALURU:
The state government has barred online classes from LKG and UKG to grade 5 in the wake of strong opposition from parents and educationists.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said the decision was taken after discussions with officials and education experts.
The Education department had three rounds of discussions with various experts, including Prof. MK Sridhar, Prof. VP Niranjanaradhya and Dr John Vijay Sagar, as well as with the Home and Health departments.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, the minister said all schools should stop online classes for LKG, UKG and primary school students. Fees should not be collected in the name of online classes.
The minister warned of stringent action against schools forcing parents to pay the next year’s fees.
