Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday clarified that there is no pending contractor bill issue within Bengaluru’s municipal limits.
Addressing the media at the GBA office, Shivakumar said that while some contractors elsewhere may be raising concerns about pending payments, the situation in Bengaluru is under control.
“We have taken revolutionary decisions in municipal bodies to streamline bill disbursement. Within the BBMP limits, there is no such problem. Around 90% of the issues have been resolved, and only about 10% remain pending due to technical reasons,” he stated.
Responding to queries about whether ongoing works would be completed by April, the Deputy CM reiterated that in the case of Bengaluru road works, there are no outstanding contractor dues.
His statement comes amid ongoing discussions in the state regarding payment delays to contractors in certain regions. Shivakumar emphasized that in Bengaluru, the administration has largely addressed the issue and ensured timely payments for infrastructure works.
