
BIDAR: The Mines and Geology Department, in collaboration with the police, cracked down on illegal sand miners operating in the Munjra river near Manikeshwar village. Authorities in Bhalki village took decisive action against illegal sand mining by setting fire to rafts and boats used for this illicit activity.
For months, farmers in the area had been suffering due to the detrimental effects of illegal sand mining. Despite the ongoing issue, illegal activities continued unchecked.

However, on a Saturday, officials received specific information about the illegal sand mining operation. They swiftly conducted a raid at the site, destroying boats, rafts, and other equipment used by the illegal sand miners. This bold action served as a warning to those involved in the illegal activity. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Bhalki Rural police.
