
Remote teaching should keep students’ health in mind: Suresh Kumar

Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar has warned private schools to not conduct ‘unnecessary’ online classes.The minister said classes need to be planned on a scientific basis, keeping children’s health in mind.
On Tuesday, the minister wrote to the Commissioner for Public Instruction, asking him to issue necessary directions in this regard. He said online classes should not be a burden for parents and students, and many private schools were exploiting students by conducting online classes.
“At any given time or situation, the students’ attention span and the side effects on health that may arise when using technical tools inonline education should be kept in mind,” he said.
Kumar added, “Classroom teaching by unscientifically conducting online classes throughout the day and completing academic activities online as an alternative is not sustainable.”
