BENGALURU:
Illegal transportation of gold concealed inside a knife handle has led to the detention of a passenger at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport.
According to reports, customs officials at the airport acted on a tip-off and apprehended a passenger who had arrived from Dubai. The gold, weighing 298.25 grams, was cleverly hidden within a hollow space within the knife’s handle.

“#IndianCustomsAtWork Based on profiling, pax arriving at KIA from Dubai via 6E-1486 was intercepted by Bengaluru Customs. 2 Mercury coated gold rods concealed in hollow handles of Knives and gold paste sprayed on paper & pasted on trays weighing 298.25gms gold detected,” Bengaluru Customs posted on X.
