Representing two-thirds of formal agricultural financing, Public Development Banks (PDBs) have a pivotal role in transforming global food systems that currently struggle with sustainability and leave millions hungry. Alvaro Lario, President of the United Nations’ International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), emphasized this as he attended the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS) in Cape Town, South Africa, from February 26 to 28.
